Natural Hair is good enough for graduation!

I remember girls who all through high school had natural hair. Then graduation came and there was a drastic change....the kinks had to go! Graduation pics last forever and so we want to look our best and leave lasting impressions at our most proud moments. In our minds we were more beautiful with our hair straightened. I remember the looks of satisfaction...
"Yes, i feel beautiful now". I remember even thinking to myself... "wow! why didn't she do that all along?" ...and silently celebrating her finally coming to the 'light'.

It was somewhat of a rite of passage as well...When a little black girl became a black woman....and we felt rewarded.

Today i'm glad that i'm in a different place...that WE are in a different place. If i could only write a letter to my 16 year old self... i doe know wah unuh woulda do wid mi!!

It's good to see we are embracing our natural beauty on these occasions. We are now seeing OUR hair as worthy. Let us continue to encourage each other and keep this movement going!
